The People Behind the Platform

Meet Our Team

myKokoro EHR was built by clinicians who have lived the challenges of outpatient practice. Our team brings real-world clinical expertise to every decision we make about the platform.

Nope, not a bot.

Lori A. Wetzel is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor with over two decades of experience in the mental health field — and increasingly, a software developer with a passion for building tools that actually work for the people who use them.

Her journey into app development grew naturally from her clinical work. Frustrated by the limitations of existing software and driven by a desire to solve real problems she encountered firsthand, Lori began building her own solutions. The myKokoro platform is the result — a growing suite of applications designed with the same care and intentionality she brings to everything she does.

myKokoro Animal Hub and myKokoro Shelter Admin are among her other developed applications, reflecting the breadth of her interests and her commitment to building software that serves communities beyond the clinical world. Whether it's helping animal shelters manage operations or giving rescue organizations better tools, Lori approaches every project with the same philosophy: build what's actually needed, not what's easiest to sell.

myKokoro EHR came directly from her dissatisfaction with what was already available to outpatient mental health and substance use practices. After years of working within systems that felt clunky, overcomplicated, and clearly not designed by anyone who had ever sat across from a client, she decided to build something better. But the frustration went beyond the software itself. She was tired of being nickel-and-dimed — paying extra for every additional seat, every added feature, every tier of access that should have just been included. She watched colleagues unable to grow their practices simply because the cost of adding a clinician to their EHR made it financially impractical. That didn't sit right with her.

The philosophy behind myKokoro EHR is straightforward: everybody gets all the features. No gated tiers. No paying more just to unlock something that should have been there from the start. The goal is to provide a quality product at a price that doesn't punish practices for growing — while being honest that quality does come with real costs. Infrastructure, storage, and tools like AI-assisted note generation aren't free to build or maintain, and myKokoro prices reflect that reality fairly rather than hiding it behind a maze of add-ons.

Lori holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and a Master's Degree from Capella University. Outside of her clinical and development work, she enjoys photographing Bald Eagles, hiking, spending time with her dogs, and fostering cats and kittens.
